Happily you have stumbled across Man Behind The Mask an ever growing, ever evolving fansite dedicated to Duo Maxwell of the anime and manga series Gundam Wing. My obsessive devotion to Duo will most likely grant that this site will never be complete, but hopefully never neglected for too long.

This site is best designed for a 1024 x 768 resolution As I'm not sure what it looks like in lower resolutions. Internet Explorer is reccomended and your browser must support div layers, popups, and css. This site has been in operation for over two years (hard to believe) and is halfway there to recieving two thousand hits. This website is dedicated to Duo Maxwell as a whole-as an emotional, mental, and physical entity. Meet Duo, a bit rough around the edges, often labeled the jester among his fellow Gundam pilots on account of his sly wisecracks, dry sense of humor, and witty repartee. Sometimes pegged as the happy go lucky joker without a care in the world. Yet are any of these titles accurate? Meet Duo Maxwell, quite possibly one of the most disturbed among the Gundam pilots.



You know him well. He is the man you see, but don't really see. Offering a nonchalant smile or sarcastic comment, and hiding so much more. Just because he smiles, does not mean he is not sad. Just because he is not as strong as Heero or Wufei, does not make him less of a man. Just because he cracks a joke, does not mean he cannot be serious. Just because he appears to be okay, does not mean he is. This is Duo, how well do you really know him? What hidden depths lurk behind those eyes? What disguised pain behind such a clever grin? With a past as grim as the nickname he gives himself, how can one proclaim to know him while only glancing at the surface? The grinning countenance, the quips and jests, and then he is gone, forever out of reach. Meet Duo Maxwell, lonely but no one can tell. In order to fully appreciate Duo, I believe one must fully understand who he is-not just his achievements throughout the series, his piloting capabilities, or his appearance, but himself as a person. A Human. This is a boy with dreams, but this is also a boy with issues. He is not the jester, the fool, or the clown, he is just a man. For all his kindess, good intentions, intelligence, strength, skill, and virtue, this boy is fucked up. But that's a part of what makes him so wonderful.



This is Duo Maxwell, the enigma, the mess, the man.



Hopefully this website will reveal Duo on a more multi facted level-as the soldier, the tragic soul, the enigma, the man. Love him, worship him, fear or revere him-he is still, just a man.

Oi. I am a bad, bad, webmistress...Hopefully Duo is not ashamed. Yargh. I wish I had more free time to update, but alas, it is not so. Perhaps with summer vacation approaching I shall have such an opportunity to get in here, tink around and brush up on things. I am not promising anything, but here's hoping! I am however, pledging my undying love for Duo and avowing so long as there is breath in my body I will keep this website :) Oh, and with regards to the three thousand hits? You guys own. OWN.

TUESDAY JULY 25, 2006.



Support the braid, not the baka! Had to say it. Welcome back Heather! I pulled myself out of the trenches and managed a full scale update-new layout included! Whew. Though I haven't been entirely good-I still have yet to finish my promised fanfictions as well as the episode summaries. Eep. Well I did change back over to div layers! That should make the navigation smoother, and there are more images and the Fanfiction section is up. So it is naught in vain! There is a new poll too, so go check it out. We hit the three year mark in November! I am girlishly excited and proud as well, to have managed this site for so long, thanks to all!



Allright! If there are any errors anywhere please notify me, as I still may have some debugging to do as a general rule after a full update.



We are now in a more, traditional, if you will, shrine based layout, which was my intent as the frames were beginning to annoy me, much more room to move around! So stay awhile, refresh your Duo devotion! I will be rolling up my sleeves to get some more work done, hopefully. If I can manage it I would like to post some new wallpaper, find a couple fresh music videos, and finish some summaries and my stories. Aie, well, I will do what I can. Duo, it's what I do. MONDAY APRIL 10, 2006.



Okay, I get the message, I really need to update! The gun to my head is no dramatization. I really have neglected things because of work and school (both, of which are getting to me right about now) But luckily I'm on Spring Break! Now if only I could get some time off of work...eh. I've been screwing up on the job lately because I'm so tired, lol but enough of my problems, back to the site!



I'm really going to try to put something new up in the next few days, if only just a wallpaper or actually set the fanfiction section up, because I miss Duo, lol I miss our closeness, our bond-(may sound crazy to some of you but I actually feel that way...) But I have a favor, if anyone wouldn't mind...? I know most of you have seen the series as I have, but if anyone could send me basic episode outlines so I don't have to go through each one for the details on my own to make my Duo commentary, it would really be appreciated :) Because I'm a shit and I don't have time to work on the site as much as I would like. Ah. And I have work in an hour! Bugger.



I think a new layout is in order too. Maybe some revamping, out with the old and in with the new. I'm thinking Div layers, I'm sick of frames. Hopefully I'll have more time to revamp after school is over come the end of May, but I'm really going to push myself to get some new stuff up in the meantime. SYNOPSIS
New Mobile Report Gundam Wing is set in the year After Colony 195. In this age, mankind has taken to the stars, now inhabiting space in surrounding colonies orbiting the earth. The citizens of these colonies are harshly mistreated by Earth Sphere Alliance and Oz. As the colonies initiate a rebellion against this military oppression, five exceptional young men, able to pilot extraordinary humanoid fighting machines called Gundams, are sent to earth disguised as shooting stars to launch guerilla warfare against Oz and the Alliance. Duo Maxwell is known as the second pilot, aviator of Gundam Deathscythe.
